Pudding as an after school snack - whats your thoughts??

I am conducting an informal survey to see what people think regarding afterschool snacks!
What of the following is an acceptable after school snack:
- pudding cup
- fruit snack pack
- fruit
- jello cup

Also - what snacks do you give?

As you know, I don't do much pre-packaged stuff.

Personally, a cup of jello or pudding wouldn't do much for me but piss off my stomach. A fruit cup would be too sweet. I would save all these types of things for an occasional dessert after a nutritious meal.

So. Afternoon snack would be:
- a piece of fresh fruit
- raw veggies
- yogurt and granola
- chips and salsa
- cheese (real) and crackers
- cheese stick (mozzarella or other)
- quesadilla
- "quick" bread (like banana or zucchini) with glass of juice
- few times a month, cookies and milk

These are typically what the boys and I eat around 3 in the afternoons. :D

I think that anything that makes them happy without going crazy is a good snack after a long day of school. In other words, I stick to low sugar but high happy factor - whatever that may be for the day...yogurt, go-gurt, fruit, or whatever.

I don't mind a treat every once in a while, but I do try to minimize the amount of sugar the kids get, especially since I notice a big behavior difference in Alex. The kids usually wake up from their naps hungry so they get either fruit, granola bars (usually kashi), or cheese. Occasionally they will get yogurt or a sweet treat.

If you can get them to eat some nuts, like almonds, they are a great non-sweet and high protein snack. Add it chopped to the yogurt with some granola. Veggies and fruit sugars are always better than fake sugars in some yogurt or fruit snacks.

Thanks for all the input :) It is interesting to hear everyone's perspective
As for the Almonds - I love the idea but with her peanut allergy, she will not even touch something with the word "nut" - which I guess is a good thing!
We have compromised in that pudding can be a dessert, but not an "after school" snack (weekends can be negotiated for) Today was fresh fruit.

All of the above.

I'd also suggest:
* cheese cubes and crackers
* carrots, cucumbers, and broccoli with ranch dressing
* a quesadilla
* melon cubes
* berries
* nuts
