Figured I would give a little update on the 1st week of 1st grade :) A LOVES her class and being one of the "big kids". She gets to play on the big playground, pick her own friends to sit by at lunch and have more options for centers/ work stations to choose from. She also learned that with "big kid privileges" come "big kid responsibility" The teacher doesn't check to make sure they have their backpacks ready when it is time to leave, so she learned the hard way yesterday when she forgot her homework folder at school. They also use a reward/fines system... you get "stars" for good behavior and actions, and you have to give stars back for bad choices. Every couple weeks, the "star store" opens and depending on how many stars you have, you can buy something.
As for getting out routine together, I'm having a hard time adjusting :) I had gotten use to her being gone 9 - noon, so having to get her ready by 8 has been rough, and re-wiring Paul to change his naps so I can pick her up after school has been a challenge. The other thing I noticed is that the kids in general are pretty good playing together, and i can get stuff done... but with her back as school P has become more needy, so I have to re-think my plans. I figure by next week, things will settle in :)
